Anna’s paintings are large-scale abstract acrylic and mixed media paintings on canvas. Her paintings are often rapidly conceived although she often revisits them several times in the days and weeks afterwards overlaying and adding or taking away marks and colour until she is satisfied. She often works on several paintings at once which is why some pieces seem to come in pairs or triplets with reference to colour and particular marks. Colour is paramount but form, mark-making and overall composition are also key. Anna uses her painting as an expression of ideas particularly relating to her work as a stylist and set designer. Experimenting with colour palettes is often her motivation and the challenge is forming colour into shapes that sit in harmony with one another on the canvas.
